Apologies

No thorough averages to report as yet, but i do have some Averages and Prize winners from the Gents Supper

Dods (right) helped proceedings run smoothly, and our thanks go out to the dedicated members who helped to organise the evening. It was a greta evening, with fine speeches, fine food, fine wine and well, the usual company!

Michael Phillips was the most successful, not only picking up several awards and trophies, but also picking up Alice Jarret's friend and another girl in Billy Rocks! Was this the best night for him yet?

Sorely missed at the evening due to work committments were John Miles, Muzzy, Paul, Steve and Mike Loney, but i think Dave Tribe drank enough for you all!

Some of the Juniors were invited, and although there were concerns that they would pick up some foul profanities from us, they spent the evening occupied in trying to expand Geoff's vocabulary, who in turn repaid them with drinks.

Again, thanks to all those who helped make it a successful evening, and congratulations to those award winners.

Overview of 2005

Although the First XI and Sunday cricket wasn't quite at the same high standard it was last year, there were still some fine innings, and the Second XI performed superbly to gain promotion to the Second Division.

With quality players such as Dods, Diggers, Matt Boazman, Richard Sweet, Steve Miles, Ian Jones, Neville and Welly to name but a few, the Second XI have disproved Max's theory that village cricket was dead.

The First XI lacked the teamwork that won the cup the year before and also lacked some of the individual brilliance that shone through last year. The side lost momentum, and stagnated at mid-table for much of the season. Although Michael Phillips was a major loss, we all expected more, and hope that next year, we can reorganise and develop again into a winning side.

The Sunday side, as ever, contained both terrific and tripe cricket. They won no trophy this year, but have continued to encourage juniors to play at a senior level and those seniors who are in it for fun. In this respect the Sunday side did succeed this year.
